We had to say goodbye to our 16 1/2 year old dog Buddy this week. He was such a good dog who never in all of his long life bit or even growled at another person or animal in his life. We chose Buddy from a litter of 8 puppies about 20 hours after he was born. At that time he was the biggest one in the litter...about the size of a pound of butter! What fun he was for the kids growing up. He didn't know that he was just a little dog, and would bark ferociously whenever someone came to the door. He loved to go in the car, and loved going to Coe Hill with us for the weekend, where he could run a explore through the forests. Given his age, its been quite awhile since he ran, or even walked anywhere. At the end he was blind, and deaf, and his sense of smell was gone. He still loved his treats though, and he like snuggling next to Mable by the fireplace in the mornings. Even though we knew that his time was up for really about the last month, and we had given him lots of extra love and treats during this time, it was still very sad at the end.
He is now resting with dignity under our beautiful Ivory Silk tree in the backyard.
Goodbye old friend, we are missing you very much.
Wooly hugs, Trudy
